Leadership
Al Snyder (CEO)
Al Snyder brings 30 years of management experience in the high tech sector to his role as CEO of Aepona. A telecoms and IT industry veteran, his previous positions include CEO at Carrier Access, COO at Openwave, and other senior executive positions at Oracle and Digital Equipment Corporation, with responsibilities for product development, sales, customer service, software support, and professional services. He is based in Denver, Colorado.
Michael Black (CFO)
Michael Black is a Chartered Accountant and has worked in the high tech industry for 7 years, firstly with BCO Technologies plc where he was CFO, which was sold to semiconductor giant Analog Devices Inc for £100million in August 2000. Michael holds non executive directorships of 2 other software companies in Northern Ireland and represents the Venture Capital company 3i as Chairman of Consilium Technologies.
Kevin Wagner (Senior VP Corporate Marketing and Business Development)
Kevin Wagner brings more than 15 years of experience in creating strategic partnerships, developing new markets and business, and positioning companies for growth. Mr. Wagner brings a wealth of industry leadership experience, having created and served in leadership positions for a number of industry initiatives and organizations. He will be responsible for developing and growing the company's partner relationships, creating customer solutions, marketing, and new business development. Prior to joining Aepona, Kevin held leadership positions with Carrier Access (acquired by Turin Networks), Openwave, Motorola and Cadence Design Systems. Mr. Wagner holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas and received his MBA from University of Dallas, Graduate School of Management.
Mike Mayfield (Senior VP, Global Sales and Services)
Mike Mayfield is a results-oriented executive with over 20 years of achievements, spanning all facets of the business value chain. Mr. Mayfield will be focused on jump starting professional services while building out customer-centric, regionalized services & support capabilities, creating a custom development centre, and improving operational efficiencies.
Prior to joining Aepona, Mike held key management positions at Carrier Access (acquired by Turin Networks), Openwave, DEC, Oracle and StorageTek. He holds an M.A. in Management from Webster University, and a B.S. in Business Administration from Regis College.
Liam McQuillan (COO)
Liam McQuillan has been with Aepona since its foundation in 1995 and is responsible for the company's current positioning as Global Market Leader in OSA technology. He has taken the company from a generic consultancy services business to a very successful, highly product-focused company. Previous positions include Vice President of Engineering for Aldiscon Northern Ireland, a market leader in SMS solutions for operators. He then moved on and became COO for APiON, where he was instrumental in APiON's success in the WAP Gateway market.
Michael Curran (VP Sales)
Michael Curran joined Aepona in Feb 2003. He has overall responsibility for building Aepona's sales function to include new offices in the US, Europe and Asia, and manages a highly dedicated team responding to our customers' needs for new applications and services based on open telco grade platforms. Prior to joining Aepona, Michael was Vice President of Customer Operations for Openwave in EMEA (previously Phone.com). In this role he had a major contribution to their WAP business success across EMEA and his efforts resulted in significant adoption of Openwave's product portfolio.
Michael Crossey (VP Marketing)
Michael Crossey joined Aepona in June 2006 and is responsible for directing all of the company's marketing activities, including Strategic Marketing, Communications, Positioning and Market Intelligence. Prior to Aepona, Michael held the position of VP Marketing and Business Development with Transmode, a Swedish pioneer of Optical Networking technology. During his tenure, Transmode grew from a start-up with a niche product offering to one of the world's leading suppliers of WDM systems to Tier 1 and 2 telecommunications operators.
Michael has 18 years experience in telecoms, 14 of which were spent with Nortel in a series of management positions spanning Product Marketing, Product Management, Market Development and Operations, latterly as the company's Director of Market Development, Optical Networks in Northern Europe. He holds Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Science degrees from Queen's University, Belfast.
Richard McConnell (Chief Technical Officer)
Richard McConnell is responsible for the company technical strategy including product direction, product management and industry standards involvement. Previous to Aepona Richard has held an number of senior technical and operational positions in growing and innovative telco software companies including COO at Mobile Cohesion, Group Vice President of Carrier Products at Openwave and CTO of APiON. He holds a first class honours degree in Information Technology from the Queens University of Belfast and spend five years in supercomputing applied research after graduation.
