Our Team
Aepona can trace its roots directly to Aldiscon, a pioneer of text messaging and the first company to market with an SMSC platform. Following the sale of Aldiscon to LogicaCMG in the mid-1990's, another company, Apion, was founded, which thrived in the WAP gateway market before being sold to Openwave in 1999.
Both of these companies were leaders in their field, and, as well as providing products, offered professional services, providing staff with valuable experience in implementing and maintaining large-scale carrier network platforms.
This heritage has provided Aepona with a long experience in not only developing innovative, robust products that have been deployed in networks serving millions of subscribers, but also in delivering extremely complex integration projects on time and within budget. Aepona's past experience has given the company valuable insight into the challenges of integrating platforms from several vendors into an end-to-end solution, for example encountering the myriad of vendor-specific protocol implementations that characterize almost all networks today.
Today, Aepona's team uniquely combines skills and experience in Internet / IT technologies such as Web Services, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Java and Service Creation / Service Execution Environments with core telecoms technologies such as SIP, IMS, SS7, and Intelligent Networks.
Our people are renowned for being innovative, highly responsive, customer-focused, trustworthy and experienced. This experience means that we are often asked take on the prime contractor role by our customers, orchestrating complex projects involving large network equipment providers, software and IT providers.
Aepona's management team consists of seasoned professionals with experience working in large, international organizations such as BT, Alcatel, Nortel, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Openwave.
Aepona is also regarded as leading the way in technology advancement, heavily promoting the development of standards to ensure interoperability and the global adoption of next-generation technologies. We are a member of global bodies such as 3rd-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and the Open Mobile Alliance and chaired of committees such as 3GPP CT5.
