Telecom Application Server - TAS
Whether implementing new services within existing circuit-switched networks, or evolving services towards next generation IP Networks, carriers must secure the high quality of both basic and value-added voice and data services delivered to their customers. They need highly-scalable, mission- critical service platforms that enable innovative services to be provided seamlessly across both mixed legacy/next-generation and pure IP based networks to millions of wireline and wireless subscribers. Many application servers available today do not meet the very high reliability, availability and scalability requirements of a carrier-grade service platform, and often do not comply fully with required standards.
The Aepona Telecom Application Server (TAS) is an entirely new class of Application Server, designed and optimised for the mission-critical telecom service environment and fully compliant with the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) as well as SS7 based IN standards. Aepona's unique solution enables rapid creation of advanced services that can combine real-time multimedia and voice session management with a broad range of existing capabilities such as SMS, MMS, terminal location, presence, etc.
TAS combines all the benefits of Java application development with carrier-grade reliability, scalability and real-time performance. The platform's fully distributed system architecture provides outstanding performance and reliability on low-end standard servers. The Aepona Telecom Application Server scales easily to thousands of transactions per second, supporting many millions of calls/sessions per hour. Carrier-grade features include geographical redundancy with inter-site load balancing and real-time failover.
To enable rapid and flexible creation of a broad range of applications, Aepona's solution is unique in providing multi-layered programming models on one single platform. In addition to providing a set of abstracted APIs for programming at the Java layer, the Telecom Application Server also exposes native APIs for programming directly at the protocol level, plus a Java realisation of OSA/Parlay APIs for rapid programming of convergent TDM/NGN services in a network-independent manner.
To enable services to be created rapidly, Aepona also provides a powerful Service Creation Environment, GBox. This provides an off-line instance of the full Telecom Application Server, incorporating its features. This makes it extremely easy to develop new services and to undergo a level of testing in an off-line environment before being introduced to a test network. Additionally, GBox supports industry standard SDK environments, such as Eclipse.
