Roaming

The Roaming services available from Aepona are designed to improve the roaming experience for your customers, while also improving margins on the revenues generated by outbound roamers

For Mobile Network Operators worldwide, a common issue is the customer experience while roaming. As example, when a subscriber dials the shortcode for voicemail access while roaming, they may not be connected to their voicemail service unless a specific bi-lateral arrangement is in place between the home network and the roaming network. In some roaming situations this may exist, in some it may not and the process and technology associated with many hundreds of bi-lateral agreements can be expensive. Using the Aepona Universal Service Platform, it is possible to have the voicemail shortcode work in any roaming network with no need for bi-lateral agreements.

This is just one of several services that are already available with the Aepona Universal Platform, but perhaps more importantly, this is an example of the type of service that Aepona can create to suit the particular challenges and the particular opportunities faced in a specific operating environment. The Aepona Universal Service Platform provides the following ready-to-go roaming applications.

Late Call Forwarding (LCF)

Enables all call forwarding for a roaming subscriber to be performed and accounted for in the home network, rather than the visited network. This negates the need to trombone calls back from the visited to the home network, reducing international inter-connect charges for the home network.

Selective Home Routing (SHR)

Each time a subscriber makes an outbound call while roaming the home network can:

  • Chose which inter-exchange carriers are used when their subscribers make roaming calls, improving call margins
  • Increase revenue by terminating roaming calls made by their subscribers in a Visited network
  • Improve the subscriber experience when roaming by showing the Calling Line Identity
  • Offer home network features including short code dialing plans to roaming subscribers, increasing revenues.

Dialled Digit Correction DDC

Corrects misdialled numbers, for example adding the international prefix. DDC can be enabled on a per subscriber basis, e.g. those that frequently have problems or have just being enabled for roaming. Customer care costs decline and call completion rates increase.
